And the priest kohen (ko-hane') literally, one officiating, a priest; also (by courtesy) an acting priest (although a layman) -- chief ruler, own, priest, prince, principal officer. shall offer `asah (aw-saw') to do or make, in the broadest sense and widest application the sin offering chatta'ah (khat-taw-aw') an offence (sometimes habitual sinfulness), and its penalty, occasion, sacrifice, or expiation; also (concretely) an offender and make an atonement kaphar (kaw-far') to cover (specifically with bitumen); figuratively, to expiate or condone, to placate or cance for him that is to be cleansed taher (taw-hare') be (make, make self, pronounce) clean, cleanse (self), purge, purify(-ier, self). from his uncleanness tum'ah (toom-aw') religious impurity -- filthiness, unclean(-ness). and afterward 'achar (akh-ar') the hind part; generally used as an adverb or conjunction, after (in various senses) he shall kill shachat (shaw-khat') to slaughter (in sacrifice or massacre) -- kill, offer, shoot out, slay, slaughter. the burnt offering `olah (o-law') a step or (collectively, stairs, as ascending); usually a holocaust (as going up in smoke) -- ascent, burnt offering (sacrifice), go up to. |
