And the streams nachal (nakh'-al) a stream, especially a winter torrent; (by implication) a (narrow) valley (in which a brook runs); also a shaft (of a mine) -- brook, flood, river, stream, valley. thereof shall be turned haphak (haw-fak') to turn about or over; by implication, to change, overturn, return, pervert into pitch zepheth (zeh'-feth) asphalt (from its tendency to soften in the sun) -- pitch. and the dust `aphar (aw-fawr') dust (as powdered or gray); hence, clay, earth, mud -- ashes, dust, earth, ground, morter, powder, rubbish. thereof into brimstone gophriyth (gof-reeth') cypress-resin; by analogy, sulphur (as equally inflammable) -- brimstone. and the land 'erets (eh'-rets) the earth (at large, or partitively a land) -- common, country, earth, field, ground, land, natins, way, + wilderness, world. thereof shall become burning ba`ar (baw-ar') to kindle, i.e. consume (by fire or by eating); also to be(-come) brutish pitch zepheth (zeh'-feth) asphalt (from its tendency to soften in the sun) -- pitch. |
