But thus shall ye deal `asah (aw-saw') to do or make, in the broadest sense and widest application with them ye shall destroy nathats (naw-thats') to tear down -- beat down, break down (out), cast down, destroy, overthrow, pull down, throw down. their altars mizbeach (miz-bay'-akh) an altar -- altar. and break down shabar (shaw-bar') to burst -- break (down, off, in pieces, up), broken(-hearted), bring to the birth, crush, destroy, hurt, quench, quite, tear their images matstsebah (mats-tsay-baw') something stationed, i.e. a column or (memorial stone); by analogy, an idol -- garrison, (standing) image, pillar. and cut down gada` (gaw-dah') to fell a tree; generally, to destroy anything -- cut (asunder, in sunder, down, off), hew down. their groves 'asherah (ash-ay-raw') happy; Asherah (or Astarte) a Phoenician goddess; also an image of the same -- grove. and burn saraph (saw-raf') to be (causatively, set) on fire -- (cause to, make a) burn(-ing), up) kindle, utterly. their graven images pciyl (pes-eel') an idol -- carved (graven) image, quarry. with fire 'esh (aysh) fire -- burning, fiery, fire, flaming, hot. |
