And this land 'erets (eh'-rets) the earth (at large, or partitively a land) -- common, country, earth, field, ground, land, natins, way, + wilderness, world. which we possessed yarash (yaw-rash') to occupy (by driving out previous tenants, and possessing in their place); by implication, to seize, to rob, to inherit; also to expel, to impoverish, to ruin at that time `eth (ayth) time, especially (adverb with preposition) now, when, etc. from Aroer `Arow`er (ar-o-ayr') nudity of situation; Aroer, the name of three places in or near Palestine -- Aroer. which is by the river nachal (nakh'-al) a stream, especially a winter torrent; (by implication) a (narrow) valley (in which a brook runs); also a shaft (of a mine) -- brook, flood, river, stream, valley. Arnon 'Arnown (ar-nohn') a brawling stream; the Arnon, a river east of the Jordan, also its territory -- Arnon. and half chetsiy (khay-tsee') the half or middle -- half, middle, mid(-night), midst, part, two parts. mount har (har) a mountain or range of hills (sometimes used figuratively) -- hill (country), mount(-ain), promotion. Gilead Gil`ad (ghil-awd') Gilad, a region East of the Jordan; also the name of three Israelites -- Gilead, Gileadite. and the cities `iyr (eer) or (in the plural) par {awr}; or ayar (Judges 10:4) {aw-yar'}; a city (a place guarded by waking or a watch) in the widest sense (even of a mere encampment or post) -- Ai (from margin), city, court (from margin), town. thereof gave nathan (naw-than') to give, used with greatest latitude of application (put, make, etc.) I unto the Reubenites R'uwbeniy (reh-oob-ay-nee') a Reubenite or descendant of Reuben -- children of Reuben, Reubenites. and to the Gadites Gadiy (gaw-dee') a Gadite (collectively) or descendants of Gad -- Gadites, children of Gad. |
