And that the whole land 'erets (eh'-rets) the earth (at large, or partitively a land) -- common, country, earth, field, ground, land, natins, way, + wilderness, world. thereof is brimstone gophriyth (gof-reeth') cypress-resin; by analogy, sulphur (as equally inflammable) -- brimstone. and salt melach (meh'-lakh) powder, i.e. (specifically) salt (as easily pulverized and dissolved -- salt(-pit). and burning srephah (ser-ay-faw') cremation -- burning. that it is not sown zara` (zaw-rah') to sow; figuratively, to disseminate, plant, fructify -- bear, conceive seed, set with sow(-er), yield. nor beareth tsamach (tsaw-makh') to sprout (transitive or intransitive, literal or figurative) -- bear, bring forth, (cause to, make to) bud (forth), (cause to, make to) grow (again, up), (cause to) spring (forth, up). nor any grass `eseb (eh'seb) grass (or any tender shoot) -- grass, herb. groweth `alah (aw-law') to ascend, intransitively (be high) or actively (mount); used in a great variety of senses, primary and secondary, literal and figurative (as follow) therein like the overthrow mahpekah (mah-pay-kaw') a destruction -- when...overthrew, overthrow(-n). of Sodom Cdom (sed-ome') burnt (i.e. volcanic or bituminous) district; Sedom, a place near the Dead Sea -- Sodom. and Gomorrah `Amorah (am-o-raw') a (ruined) heap; Amorah, a place in Palestine -- Gomorrah. Admah 'Admah (ad-maw') earthy; Admah, a place near the Dead Sea -- Admah. and Zeboim Tsbo'iym (tseb-o-eem') gazelles; Tseboim or Tsebijim, a place in Palestine -- Zeboiim, Zeboim. which the LORD Yhovah (yeh-ho-vaw') (the) self-Existent or Eternal; Jehovah, Jewish national name of God -- Jehovah, the Lord. overthrew haphak (haw-fak') to turn about or over; by implication, to change, overturn, return, pervert in his anger 'aph (af) the nose or nostril; hence, the face, and occasionally a person; also (from the rapid breathing in passion) ire and in his wrath chemah (khay-maw') heat; figuratively, anger, poison (from its fever) -- anger, bottles, hot displeasure, furious(-ly, -ry), heat, indignation, poison, rage, wrath(-ful). |
