Then thy elders zaqen (zaw-kane') old -- aged, ancient (man), elder(-est), old (man, men and...women), senator. and thy judges shaphat (shaw-fat') to judge, i.e. pronounce sentence (for or against); by implication, to vindicate or punish; by extenssion, to govern; passively, to litigate shall come forth yatsa' (yaw-tsaw') to go (causatively, bring) out, in a great variety of applications, literally and figuratively, direct and proxim. and they shall measure madad (maw-dad') by implication, to measure (as if by stretching a line); figuratively, to be extended -- measure, mete, stretch self. unto the cities `iyr (eer) or (in the plural) par {awr}; or ayar (Judges 10:4) {aw-yar'}; a city (a place guarded by waking or a watch) in the widest sense (even of a mere encampment or post) -- Ai (from margin), city, court (from margin), town. which are round about cabiyb (saw-beeb') (as noun) a circle, neighbour, or environs; but chiefly (as adverb, with or without preposition) around -- (place, round) about, circuit, compass, on every side. him that is slain chalal (khaw-lawl') pierced (especially to death); figuratively, polluted -- kill, profane, slain (man), slew, (deadly) wounded. |
