These be the words dabar (daw-baw') a word; by implication, a matter (as spoken of) or thing; adverbially, a cause which Moses Mosheh (mo-sheh') drawing out (of the water), i.e. rescued; Mosheh, the Israelite lawgiver -- Moses. spake dabar (daw-bar') perhaps properly, to arrange; but used figuratively (of words), to speak; rarely (in a destructive sense) to subdue unto all Israel Yisra'el (yis-raw-ale') he will rule as God; Jisrael, a symbolical name of Jacob; also (typically) of his posterity: --Israel. on this side `eber (ay'-ber) a region across; but used only adverbially (with or without a preposition) on the opposite side (especially of the Jordan; ususally meaning the east) Jordan Yarden (yar-dane') a descender; Jarden, the principal river of Palestine -- Jordan. in the wilderness midbar (mid-bawr') a pasture (i.e. open field, whither cattle are driven); by implication, a desert; also speech (including its organs) -- desert, south, speech, wilderness. in the plain `arabah (ar-aw-baw') a desert; especially (with the article prefix) the (generally) sterile valley of the Jordan and its continuation to the Red Sea -- Arabah, champaign, desert, evening, heaven, plain, wilderness. over against muwl (mool) abrupt, i.e. a precipice; by implication, the front; used only adverbially (with prepositional prefix) opposite the Red Cuwph (soof) the Reed (Sea) -- Red Sea. sea between Paran Pa'ran (paw-rawn') ornamental; Paran, a desert of Arabia -- Paran. and Tophel Tophel (to'-fel) quagmire; Tophel, a place near the Desert -- Tophel. and Laban Laban (law-bawn') Laban, a Mesopotamian; also a place in the Desert -- Laban. and Hazeroth Chatserowth (khats-ay-roth') yards; Chatseroth, a place in Palestine -- Hazeroth. and Dizahab Diy zahab (dee zaw-hawb') of gold; Dizahab, a place in the Desert -- Dizahab. |
